3/17/2019 0 Comments Day 2: Happy Birthday! The first full day of our Breakout trip acted as a recovery from Princeton’s midterms and a way to know members of the group. The only event on our schedule was a tour of the town of Princeton, getting to know the local area more in preparation for learning about the medical needs of the region. However, frisbees, birthday cakes, and studying with friends made the day feel full. Before our tour of Princeton, we spent some time playing frisbee outside of the CASA, a retreat house where our group is staying for the week. Then we travelled back to Princeton Campus after only a day away. A tour guide by the name of Leslie from The Historical Society of Princeton showed us around the town of Princeton and the most iconic parts of Princeton University Campus. Some of the most interesting facts of the day were that Nassau Street is one of the oldest roadways in the US predating European arrival in the Americas and that the wood used in the pews of the Princeton Chapel is from Sherwood Forest in England. After tour we hung around campus for a few hours to take advantage of high internet speeds and get some work done. Then it was back to CASA and a birthday party, complete with cookie cake, for our group member Edwina, who turned 19 today.
